Project Brief – AGIBA Gas Power Generation Plant, Faras Field

Location: Faras Field, Qattara Depression, Western Desert, Egypt
Client: Giza Systems
Scope: Piping Interconnection & Engineering Services

Project Overview:
The AGIBA Gas Power Generation Plant at Faras Field includes a gas treatment skid package that needs to be interconnected with the Mantrac generators. Giza Systems engaged Diar Consulting Group to provide engineering services for the piping interconnection between these two areas.

The project’s primary goal is to minimize flared gas at the main fields while adhering to both local and international environmental regulations.

Scope of Work

1. Flare Gas Minimization Strategy
Diar conducted a comprehensive analysis of AGIBA’s existing operations to identify the optimal strategy for minimizing flared gas, taking into account:

·        Volume and composition of flared gas
·        Existing infrastructure and facilities
·        Environmental regulations
·        Economic feasibility

2. Flared Gas Utilization Design
Based on the chosen strategy, Diar’s engineers designed systems to capture and utilize flared gas for two main purposes:
a) Power Generation

·        Installation of two gas engine generators, each with a capacity of 1.2 MW
·        Captured flared gas will be used as fuel, reducing reliance on conventional fuels and lowering operational costs

b) Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) Extraction and Sales
·        Captured flared gas will be processed to extract valuable NGLs
·        Extracted NGLs will be stored in designated tanks for subsequent sale, creating an additional revenue stream

Project Benefits
·        Reduced Environmental Impact: Significant reduction of greenhouse gas emissions through flare minimization
·        Improved Resource Utilization: Maximizes the productive use of captured flared gas for power generation and NGL extraction
·        Cost Savings: Reduces dependence on external energy sources
·        Revenue Generation: Sale of NGLs contributes a new income stream
