Project Brief:
Diar Consulting Group was appointed to execute compre-hensive process safety studies for the critical Water Dispos-al System at the Shahd oil and gas field. Located approxi-mately 200 km from Cairo, the Shahd field is a vital asset producing from the Bahariya Formation. The pro¡ect focused on the systematic evaluation of the disposal systems at Shahd, Shahd SE, and the Permanent In¡ection Station at Shahd SE to ensure operational integrity and safety.
Scope of Services:
Hazard Identification (HAZID) and Hazard & Operability (HAZOP) Studies
Key Scope & Objectives:
The project involved a multidisciplinary approach to identify, evaluate, and mitigate potential risks through structured safety workshops led by expert consultants:
Hazard Identification (HAZID) Study:
Conducted during the development stage to assess hazards related to plant layout, construction activities, and external environmental factors. This study established the foundation for safer design strategies by identifying accident scenarios affecting person-nel safety, assets, and the environment.
Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) Study:
A detailed, node-by-node systematic analysis used to identify process deviations from design intent. The study focused on analyzing the causes and consequences of deviations in parameters such as flow, pressure, and temperature to evaluate the adequacy of existing safeguards.
